Students were tasked with a unique challenge to design the planned Sizewell C nuclear power station using digital Lego bricks.

The competition, part of a pilot scheme, was open to all year groups at Alde Valley Academy in Leiston.

Lasting six weeks, students were organised into teams of four, with each member assigned a role: project manager, design lead, materials lead, and financing lead.

The winning design had to be accurate, within budget, and exhibit creative flair.

Libby Isaac, acting headteacher for quality of education, said: “Our students have been so lucky to have been given the opportunity to be part of this competition.

The winning design came from Year 10 students, Sorrel and Alannah.

Sorrel said: “We had a lot of fun being creative and designing the power station – and we added a smiley face to our design to give the power station a friendly look.”
