A Suffolk resort's 34.5 metre high Ferris wheel attraction is being taken down at the end of the summer season.
Work to install the Felixstowe Ferris wheel started in May and the tourist ride has stood on a grass patch between the promenade and Sea Road throughout the summer, offering up to 144 people a full view of Felixstowe.
In March, this newspaper reported how East Suffolk Council had given planning permission for the wheel to occupy the site permanently, so the wheel's owners, Essex-based Observation Attractions Company, did not have to apply again when the wheel returned for the summer.
The council's planning committee praised the economic benefits it brought to the town.
The wheel proved to be a big hit in the town last year with a 20% increase in visitors.
Mayor Seamus Bennett said previously: "It was a great success last year and will add greatly to Felixstowe's growing tourist offer.
"I'm also pleased that the owners have installed electric power so the wheel runs without polluting our precious sea air."
The planning permission enables the 24-gondola wheel to operate between February and October.
It is not known when the attraction will reopen.
