The organisers of a fireworks display say they understand the "disappointment felt by the community" after the event was cancelled two days before it was due to take place.
The annual event in Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, was expected to be held on Sunday, but the council announced it would be cancelled on Friday following health and safety concerns.
The decision to cancel the event left many disappointed but the council has said that the safety of visitors was their number one priority.
A spokesman for Rendlesham Parish Council said: "The decision was made after receiving professional advice when it became apparent, that it was not possible to adequately meet the requirements of health & safety ensuring the full safety of the public and those attending the event.
"In the event of an emergency or accident the Parish Council would not have been insured, and liability would rest on individuals involved in staging the event and Parish Councillors.
"Our main concern in publishing the cancellation of the event on Friday, was to inform the public and contact all the vendors who were due to attend. We know that this is a well-supported and significant event in the village calendar and, recognise and understand the disappointment felt by the community.
"Early conversations have started to see how the Parish Council may be able to support vendors going forward.
"As with anything planned and run by the Parish Council the safety of all those involved, and attending is of paramount importance and priority, this will continue to be the case."
