A Suffolk business hub that suffered significant damage during flooding unleashed by Storm Babet last year has undergone a £720,000 refurbishment.

Framlingham Technology Centre, in Station Road, was inundated with brown water when the storm lashed the county in October 2023, bringing heavy rainfall which caused the town's mere to burst its banks and flood nearby roads, homes and businesses.

The centre's ground floor sustained significant damage, while businesses were forced to relocate to higher floors and 16 staff had to sleep on makeshift beds as the storm battered the building.

Part of the ground floor is also set to be turned into a new hub and co-working space, with the aim to offer businesses a modern, collaborative environment designed to foster innovation and growth.

The centre's chair Tony Stockman said: "It was devastating to see the town so badly affected by the floods last year.

"But now it’s time to look forward. East Suffolk has so much untapped entrepreneurial talent.

"Many founders just need that little extra support to attract their first investors and secure those initial clients.

"That’s why we’ve invested so heavily. To create a space where local enterprises can reach their full potential.”

The centre accommodates small and medium-sized enterprises with the aim to nurture a new generation of businesses.

Firms can also use the hub as a virtual office, with access to a reception area and conference rooms to meet and greet clients.

More than 100 homes and commercial properties in the town were flooded during Storm Babet, as water poured onto roads, leaving cars submerged in The Elms car park.
