A Suffolk MP is to host a public meeting on assisted dying.
Jess Asato, MP for Lowestoft, will host a public meeting on Friday, November 15, to discuss the ‘Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill’.
The discussion will take place at the Players Theatre in Lowestoft, aiming to bring together local constituents to share their views, hear perspectives from all sides, and participate in an open discussion on the subject.
Jess has organised the public meeting as part of her commitment to listening to the community on complex and sensitive issues.
“The Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill has sparked considerable debate across the country, and I want to ensure my constituents have the opportunity to voice their views,” she said.
“This is a deeply personal and ethical matter and I am committed to hearing from the people of Lowestoft and surrounding areas as we consider the impact of potential legislative changes.”
Doors to the Players Theatre will open at 7pm with the meeting set to begin at 7:30 PM.
Admission is free, and constituents can reserve tickets via Eventbrite.
The event will include presentations from speakers with a range of perspectives on the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill, followed by a Q&A session, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with the topic.
“I hope this event will provide a respectful and meaningful forum where we can explore the diverse views that make this issue so complex,” said Asato. “I look forward to listening to my constituents as we navigate this important discussion together.”
