A man from Reydon has been jailed for 18 months after committing a burglary while on drugs.

Toby Maxwell, 29, of Kingfisher Crescent, previously admitted burgling a home in Lowestoft on May 30 this year.

He entered the home with an accomplice at 10.20 pm but Mr Recorder Jeremy Benson KC said that the entry was unplanned and Maxwell was “under the influence of drugs”.

Recorder Benson continued: “There may well have been householders present when you committed the burglary.

“Very little was stolen but the premises had clearly been disturbed and the effect on the householders was considerable”.

The defendant has previous convictions for burglary and theft from a shop. At the time of the offence, he was subject to a community order.

In mitigation, the court heard the offence was committed at a “particularly low point” when Maxwell’s father had died and he had lost his accommodation.
