The Sustainable Workplace of the Year award, sponsored by Indigo Swan, at the East Anglia Clean & Green Awards 2025 is open for submissions.
Sustainability is one of the essential factors for success in any business, and the Sustainable Workplace of the Year award was created to recognise firms that take their environmental impact seriously.
James Groves, managing director of award sponsor Indigo Swan, said that entrants should “have implemented strategies within the workplace to reduce their own waste and introduce sustainable procedures and products”.
They should also be able to show their goals through a strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.
Just entering this award can be a valuable exercise for any business, as Mr Groves explained.
“It’s a great way to assess your current sustainability initiatives, what you currently do and what areas you could improve,” he said.
“It also allows businesses to get their employees on board and gets them excited about improving their own green credentials.
“Employee engagement plays a huge part in creating a sustainable workplace, as it’s important for everyone in the business to be aware of the company’s goals and how they will achieve them,” he added.
The judges will be looking for evidence of employee engagement, along with innovative sustainable initiatives, accreditations and impact on the wider community, when assessing entries.
For the finalists and eventual winner, this award can help them stand out above the competition.
“Net zero and sustainability are important topics to consumers, so any business that is shortlisted for this award will be seen to be actively improving and enhancing their own green initiatives,” said Mr Groves.
“It will also likely have a positive impact on their reputation with their supply chain.
