It is no secret that Suffolk is home to a number of incredible villages that all have their own uniqueness, but here are some reasons you should visit this village.
Dunwich, which is nestled on the coast between Sizewell and Southwold, is one of the county's best preserved villages.
The village is also full of history as during the Middle Ages Dunwich had a busy port linking the county to the rest of the continent.
But here are some reasons why you should check out the village for yourself.
Award-winning and dog-friendly pub
The Ship in Dunwich is a great place to stop off at after a long stroll along the beach.
The coastal pub boasts two AA Rosettes for its food offering, and has also achieved a four-star rating.
With locally sourced food on offer, the pub offers seasonal menus as well as traditional pub favourites.
The pub even has a special menu that caters for your four-legged friends, including their very own doggy beer.
The Hsip also has a number of rooms to stay in with far fetching views of the Suffolk coast.
Great beach
Temperatures may be dropping but that doesn't mean you still can't enjoy a trip to the coast.
The beach is framed by cliffs, marshes and a plant-filled heath and is great for a walk.
It was recently named as one of the best beaches in the country by the luxury lifestyle magazine Conde Nast Traveller.
Dunwich Heath
If you visit the village, check out Dunwich Heath.
The area, which is just tucked away behind the coastline is also another great place for a walk.
One walk in particular is The Coast Guard Cottage walk which is about two and a half miles long.
It was recently named by The Times as one of the best dog-friendly walks in the UK.
Describing the the route, The Times said: "Dunwich Heath is a peaceful stretch of shingle beach edged by wild heathland and patches of woodland. It also has a designated 'leads off' trail for dogs, so you can relax knowing the walk will be peaceful for the local wildlife too."
Dogs should be on leads until reaching the woof walk sign.
There are a number of great places along the way for a pitstop with the National Trust Coastguard Tearoom, the Flora Tearooms, a traditional fish and chip café at the opposite end of the beach, and they all welcome dogs.
See the history of the village
Like all Suffolk's towns and villages Dunwich is rich in history.
The village has its own museum that showcases all of its secrets and is the perfect place for all the family to learn about the area.
It tells the story of how the village, which was once believed to be the capital of East Anglia, was lost to the sea.
