Two homes could be built in the back yard of a pub on a key route into Sudbury if plans before a council are given the go-ahead.

Applicant Theodore Bird is seeking planning permission from Babergh District Council for the demolition of an disused outbuilding behind the former Cyclist Café at 53 Ballingdon Street and subsequent erection of two homes.

The plans are amended from those that were already approved in November 2019 for the site, but with a greater emphasis on sustainability.

In proposals the outbuilding would make way for a pair of semi-detached homes, a parking area and landscaping.

There would also be changes to the boundary wall and access from Ballingdon Hill.

It sits within the yard of the former Cyclist Café which was once a pub, and was previously known as The Kings Head.

Documents before the council state the current site is "in a state of disrepair".

The site is within the Sudbury Conservation Area but the outbuilding in question is outside of the area.

If approved, the access onto the site is to be widened slightly and resurfaced with a concrete entrance and cobblestones.
