A former holiday cottage that was deemed as dangerous could be demolished to make way for three new homes in a market town.

A.T. Bent Properties Ltd has applied to Broads Authority for “redevelopment of site with 3 new dwellings” in Puddingmoor, Beccles.

Each of the properties would have three bedrooms.

The site already has an existing property, Wherry Cottage, which was granted planning permission in 2015 for "complete demolition of the property and a replacement building".

In the heritage planning statement, it says: “The building was rented out as a holiday cottage but that use finished 12 years ago as the property was deemed uninhabitable due to subsidence.

"The building was visited by East Suffolk building control on 11th August 2023 and a section 78 dangerous building notice was served on the owners.

"The extent of remedial work required means the building would need to be taken down to carry out, therefore this application is for the demolition and re-development of the site."

Parking and entrances to the new properties will be from the south side, and "are designed with disabled access in mind with suitable accommodation on the ground floor".
