An exhibition based on a much-loved animated film is opening later this month in Ipswich.

Inspired by The Snowman and The Snowdog, a sequel to Raymond Briggs' classic picture book and film adaptation The Snowman, the exhibition will open on Friday, October 25, at The Hold on Ipswich Waterfront.

It will feature over 40 original illustrations from the film, as well as behind the scenes drawings and preparatory sketches.

It includes some new pieces which are based on characters created by Raymond Briggs as a way to bringing the original 'The Snowman' back to life but for a new generation of viewers.

Originally broadcast in 2012, The Snowman and the Snowdog, was created to mark the 30th anniversary of The Snowman, which is beloved by generations of families during the festive period.

Councillor Philip Faircloth-Mutton, Suffolk County Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Communities and Equality said: "We are pleased to be able to bring this exhibition to a venue in Suffolk.

"'The Snowman and The Snowdog,' exhibition will provide a great start to the Christmas season for fans for this much-loved film."
