A plane that circled in airspace above Suffolk declared an emergency after suffering technical issues with one of its engines. 

The Norwegian Air Sweden flight took off from London Gatwick at 1.47pm on Friday but shortly after take off it declared an emergency onboard. 

The plane circled over parts of Norfolk before making its way over Suffolk and then made an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport

A Norwegian Air spokesman said: "One of our aircraft had to perform a safety landing at Stansted airport following a technical issue in one of the engines.

"The aircraft landed without further issues and all passengers disembarked at Stansted."

On Friday, Flight Radar 24 - a live air traffic website - showed the flight issued a Squawk 7700 code indicating an emergency onboard the aircraft.
