Almost 40,000 free range birds could be housed at an estate after plans for two structures were submitted.
Copperfield Enterprises Ltd, at Kenton Hall near Debenham, has lodged proposals with Mid Suffolk District Council.
The plans would see two free range poultry houses, alongside associated infrastructure, erected on part of the 200 hectare estate.
A design and access statement says "the applicants are seeking to further diversify their farming business with the development of the proposed free range poultry enterprise".
It adds: "The use of the development is for the rearing of free-range chickens to supply the growing demand for higher welfare chicken from the consumer."
The chickens would be supplied to Traditional Norfolk Poultry to help meet the growing demand for higher welfare product.

The development site extends to around six hectares and would house 39,998 free range birds.
It would include feed bins, dirty water containment tanks, gas tanks and access roads.
An odour impact assessment adds: "The proposed development is unlikely to lead to odour impacts at a level which would be regarded as unacceptable, when operated in accordance with best practice."
