A man has been arrested after armed police were called to an incident in a Suffolk town.
At about 6.50pm last night officers on patrol were alerted to an incident at a home in Stowmarket Road in Needham Market.
A man told police that he had been attacked by another man inside the property and had suffered an injury to his face.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the injuries did not require hospital treatment.
The spokesman added: "A knife was reported to have been brandished during the incident, so armed police were also called to assist and a containment was put in place around the premises."
At about 7.25pm a 45-year-old man surrendered himself to officers and was arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was later taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he remains for questioning.
It is understood that the two men involved were known to each other.
