Pupils and staff at a west Suffolk primary school have been left "disappointed" and "upset" after damaged was caused to a classroom.

Over the weekend the window to the computing room at Glade Academy primary school in Knappers Way, Brandon, was smashed.

In a statement on the school's social media page penned by the school council, students said: "We are disappointed to tell you that somebody deliberately broke one of the school's windows last weekend.

"They threw a rock at our computing room window from the path down the side of our school and the window smashed. Our caretaker found the rock."

The statement continued to explain the children were "not very happy" about the situation, describing it as a "big disappointment".

They continued: "The amount of money that is being spent to fix the window means less money to buy things for us to use in school such as new art equipment, counters for maths, school trips, stickers for good work and good behaviour, colouring pencils and pens, and library books.

"We hope no more windows are broken and that our school is treated with respect by everyone in this community."

A spokesperson for the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust said: "We were saddened to find one of the windows at Glade Academy had been smashed overnight, and the children were understandably upset by this.

"We are pleased to report that the window is being replaced and we look forward to working with the community to ensure that there is no reoccurrence."

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police have received report of an incident of criminal damage at Glade Academy in Brandon.

"At some point between 6:15pm on Friday 11 and 6am on Monday 14 October, a window was smashed, believed to be deliberately broken. No entry was gained to the premises.
