Following the AA Hospitality Awards at the end of September, here is an updated list of all the Suffolk hotels that have been recognised for top hospitality.

The AA Red Stars recognises the best places to stay in the UK, with new entries added by inspectors each year. 

There are currently 152 Red Star hotels across the country which offer outstanding levels of hospitality and service. 

Here are all of the Suffolk entries, all of which have four Red Stars. 

The Angel Hotel

Just a short walk from the town centre the historic hotel has had many notable guests stay including Charles Dickens. 

The famed writer wrote part of The Pickwick Papers while in residence. 

The Angel Hotel offers a range of rooms with an individual design to make the stay a personal experience for guests. 

The Swan Southwold

The Adnams hotel underwent a renovation in 2017 which transformed the 35 bedrooms into a celebration of the brewing company's coastal location and heritage. 

The Swan Southwold was also among the first recipients of a One Key award from the Michelin Guide.

Hintlesham Hall Hotel

The Grade I listed hotel is a manor house which dates back to the 1400s. 

It combines its countryside heritage with modern luxury with each of the 32 rooms displaying features from canopy beds to panelled designs.

An inspector for the AA said the rooms are "tastefully furnished and equipped with many thoughtful touches."

Bedford Lodge Hotel

Bedford Lodge Hotel is set in three acres of landscaped gardens and has bedrooms with a "light and airy feel" according to AA inspectors. 

There is a spa on site as well as the award-winning Squires Restaurant which recently retained its two AA Rosettes.

Salthouse Harbour Hotel

Converted from a warehouse on the Ipswich Waterfront, the hotel combines the original industrial features with contemporary art and striking colours. 

As well as standard rooms, Salthouse Harbour Hotel also has penthouse suites with floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic views over the river.
