Roads in a mid-Suffolk town are set to close over a period of nearly four months from the end of this month to enable gas mains to be replaced.

Streets in Stowmarket will be closed to enable gas company Cadent Gas to install new pipes, with the works continuing until the end of February.

A spokesperson for Cadent Gas said the replacements will last for decades and will future-proof the Stowmarket network.

The road closures include:

  • Tavern Street for ten days from Monday, October 28 until Thursday, November 7.

  • Finborough Road for 90 days from Monday, November 4 until Sunday, February 2.

  • Childer Road at the junction of Finborough Road on Monday, November 11.

Gas pipes may be turned on and off periodically throughout the works.
