A renowned Suffolk artist is set to unveil her first collection of work after a seven-year hiatus.

Karen SJ Keable, owner of the Southwold Gallery in the town's High Street, has spent the last two years creating 25 new canvases - each one capturing the beauty of Southwold, Walberswick and beyond.

Her eagerly awaited collection, titled 'A Life by the Sea,' will open at the gallery on Friday, October 18.

Ms Keable said: “We spend a lot of time walking around Southwold and Walberswick, at all times of the day and all times of the year, watching the light change from morning to night and from day to day as the seasons ebb and flow.

“Recently, it was a very windy day, and the light over Walberswick marshes changed dramatically while we walked, with clouds billowing in across the shoreline.”

The artist's new work captures these transformative moments, offering viewers a glimpse into the coastal scenes she loves.

From a framed canvas of the Southwold dunes to a 60" x 48" painting of beach huts in the evening light, each piece in the exhibition highlights Ms Keable's use of colour.

She uses deep purples and reds to represent Southwold common, and the silvery white of the sea along the coast to Dunwich.

Ms Keable's artistic break was due to a different creative project, the design and construction of her new home.

She said: "This will be my first solo exhibition for seven years, I am excited to see it all hanging on the gallery walls."

The exhibition will be open for a viewing evening on October 18 at 5pm, and then daily until Sunday, November 3, from 10am until 5pm.
