A west Suffolk man who allegedly forced a woman to stop going to choir and make her urinate in the garden has been found guilty of controlling behaviour.

Daniel Killian, 48, of Millfields, Haverhill, denied two offences of controlling or coercive behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He was found guilty of two counts of controlling or coercive behaviour following a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

A further hearing will take place on October 17 after the jury failed to reach verdicts on the remaining charges.

During the trial, Nicholas Bleaney, prosecuting, told the court that Killian was “violent and bullying” towards the victim and stopped her going to a choir and had taken her mobile phone and criticised her efforts to tidy their flat.

He would also allegedly prevent her from using the bathroom and would make her urinate in the garden or in a cat litter.

After his arrest, Killian accused the alleged victim of lying about his behaviour and said she should have been a "writer of fiction".
