A Tudor-style hotel with distant views of the Suffolk coast has been added to a prestigious hotel guide.

Inspectors from the Michelin Guide travel across the world to find the best places to stay from boutique hotels to luxury getaways.

The Crown and Castle in Orford, near Woodbridge, is the most recent hotel in the county to be added to the guide.

The 22-room place to stay was described as a "contemporary classic" and quiet.

It joins Tuddenham Mill and The Swan in Southwold, which has just become one of the first recipients of a One Key accolade

Speaking about the Orford hotel, a Michelin Guide inspector said: "It is thought that the original 12th century inn which stood on this site was built into the walls of Orford Castle.

"Most bedrooms are in chalets and many have terraces and distant sea views."

The Crown and Castle has also previously won two AA Rosettes for its on-site restaurant and was also named an AA five-star restaurant with rooms.
