The opening date for a new gym and health club opening in a west Suffolk town has been announced.

David Lloyd will be opening in Bury St Edmunds after an 18-month project.

The official public opening date is Tuesday, December 3 and the club has already gained interest from the town as people sign up for early memberships.

The club, located on the Marham Park development, will be the second David Lloyd club in Suffolk and has created more than 75 jobs across hospitality, fitness and spa roles.

Kristen Westwood, general manager at David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds, is looking forward to welcoming visitors later in the year.

He said: “The demand we have seen for memberships at the new Bury St Edmunds club has been fantastic.

Mr Westwood added: “The opening of our new club in Bury St Edmunds is an exciting time for all our members, whilst creating essential employment opportunities.

"We’ve made great progress employing our Bury St Edmunds team but still have a number of open vacancies across the club.”

The club will include an indoor and outdoor spa retreat, family exercise groups, a gym with more than 100 pieces of equipment, heated indoor and outdoor pools and racquet sport facilities.
