The initiative is part of the Rotary Young Leadership Award (RYLA), for which candidates aged between 18 and 26 are selected.

The activities are designed to challenge participants mentally, physically, and socially, helping them learn new skills for the future.

Kito Smithen, who was selected this year, said: "You are challenged mentally, physically and socially being pushed outside of your comfort zone learning many new skills which will help you for the foreseeable future."
