A village post office has closed down, following the resignation of the postmaster.
Pastie Ford had run Nayland Post Office for the past 43 years and with her now retiring the shop will cease trading.
The post office was originally earmarked for closure on September 3 but stayed open for another month.
Wendy Hamilton, Post Office network provision lead, said the business has undertaken a comprehensive review and will not be looking to replace the village post office.
In a letter, she said: "This review examined the network at a very detailed, local level, analysing customer demand and accessibility of Post Office products and services.
"Consequently, it has informed our plans for the Network as we work to ensure that, our funding and resources are allocated to deliver maximum benefit for all customers.
"At this time, therefore, we are not looking to replace Nayland Post Office."
Now the post office has closed down the next closest branch is the Stoke-by-Nayland Post Office, which is about two miles away.
