The landlady of an east Suffolk pub flooded during Storm Babet has received a community champion award.

Laura Robinson, who runs the Railway Inn in Framlingham, was presented with the Community Champion 2024 award at brewery Greene King's HQ in Bury St Edmunds.

The event was Inspirational Bites and the award was presented by double Olympic gold medal-winning sailor Sarah Ayton.

The pub in Station Road was inundated with brown water during the storm in October last year, which swamped the bar area and kitchen and led to a fundraising appeal being launched on the donations website JustGiving to raise £10,000 for new equipment for the pub.

During the flood, the water level reached knee height, destroying tables and chairs and much of the electrical equipment.

However, in December she was able to reopen again and said she could not believe how quickly the turnaround had been, as she was not able to access insurance money because the pub was in a flood zone.
