Cafes in a Suffolk seaside town have joined forces to support the mayor's charity appeal as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Felixstowe mayor David Rowe has chosen Breast Friends CIC, an online support group for those affected by breast cancer in Suffolk and Essex, as one of his charities for his mayoral year.

And several cafes and bars in Felixstowe have pledged to help his appeal by donating a percentage of their profits from each cup of coffee sold in October.

These include The Boardwalk on Felixstowe Pier, Lotty's Tearoom in High Road East, the Angel Inn in Walton, Wool Baa in Hamilton Road, The Little Ice Cream Company in Undercliff Road West, Bar One29 in Undercliff Road West and the Greenhouse cafe in Orwell Road.

The businesses will display a pink poster in their windows to indicate their participation in the fundraising efforts.

Mr Rowe said: “It is a privilege to be working with Breast Friends CIC, which provides vital care and a sense of community to those diagnosed with breast cancer.

"I’m incredibly thankful to the Felixstowe businesses that have generously pledged their support.

"Even a small donation can make a big difference in supporting those undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Let’s come together as a community to support this important cause.”

Caroline Sturman, co-founder of Breast Friends CIC, said: “At Breast Friends CIC, we're on a mission all year round to raise awareness about breast cancer, but Breast Cancer Awareness Month is especially important.

"It's a time when we can really focus on spreading the word about the signs and symptoms of the disease because early detection can make all the difference.

"We’re incredibly grateful to the fantastic businesses here in Felixstowe, like The Boardwalk Café Bar, who are supporting this initiative.

"Their generosity is helping us make a difference in the lives of people affected by breast cancer and with every cup of coffee sold, they’re helping us to spread the kindness, support and community that’s at the heart of everything we do.”
