A “violent and bullying" west Suffolk man accused of breaking his partner’s jaw, nose and wrist also made her go to the toilet in the garden and in a cat litter, it has been alleged.

Forty-eight-year-old Daniel Killian also allegedly stopped the woman going to a choir with her mother and told her how to explain her injuries when she went to the hospital, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

He had also allegedly taken her mobile phone, stopped her visiting her grandfather and criticised her efforts to tidy their flat, said Nicholas Bleaney, prosecuting.

He described Killian as “violent and bullying” and said he would slap and punch the alleged victim.

He would also allegedly prevent her from using the bathroom and would make her urinate in the garden or in a cat litter.

Mr Bleaney claimed that on one occasion the alleged victim lost consciousness after being attacked by Killian.

When she came around and asked him what had happened he allegedly told her he had hit her.

There was a trail of blood leading from the lounge to the bedroom and she later underwent surgery and had a metal plate inserted in her broken jaw.

On another occasion the woman suffered a broken wrist and a broken nose after two further alleged assaults by Killian, said Mr Bleaney.

Killian, of Millfields, Haverhill, has denied two offences of using controlling or coercive behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

After his arrest, Killian accused the alleged victim of lying about his behaviour and said she should have been a "writer of fiction".

Killian said there had been some play fighting between him and the alleged victim and claimed she had broken her jaw by slipping over in the shower.

The trial, which is expected to last the rest of this week, continues.
