A Suffolk man has been fined hundreds of pounds after pleading guilty to driving without insurance.
James Poole, 40, of Kings Road in Glemsford, near Sudbury, pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on October 5 of last year.
Poole drove his Mini Cooper without the legally required third-party insurance in Newmarket Road in Cambridge and was sentenced before Cambridge Magistrates' Court.
The 40-year-old was spared an immediate disqualification from the roads but was handed a fine of £461 and docked six points on his driving licence.
Legal costs to be paid by Poole amounted to £90 and surcharge of £184, to be paid in monthly instalments, was also imposed on the defendant.
Other circumstances were taken into account when sentencing which included Poole's need to drive in his work as a self-employed carpenter, providing financial support to his children and step children and his mortgage repayment.
His guilty plea was also taken into account when he was sentenced by magistrates at the court.
