A Colchester man accused of having a knife in a public place will have to wait until May 2026 for his trial to take place due to the backlog of cases in the criminal justice system.
Before Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday for a plea and trial preparation hearing was 45-year-old Nicholas Kendall of Riparian Square, Colchester.
He pleaded not guilty to having a knife in Reed Walk in Colchester on June 1 this year.
His trial, which is expected to last two days, will take place during a two-week warned list commencing May 11, 2026.
Recorder Emma Nash directed that a pre-trial review should take place on May 7, 2026 and allowed Kendall’s conditional bail to continue.
