From an evening of chilling ghost stories to a "secret" tour of a former weapons testing site, here are seven major Suffolk events happening in October 2024.

1. Oktoberfest

Be transported to a German beer hall with a festive atmosphere and a weekend of celebrations.

A range of beers from Oktoberfest breweries will be provided by Sir Toby's Beers.

2. Footloose The Musical

The theatre is heading back to the 1980s with a musical production based on the hit Kevin Bacon film. 

The show follows the character of Ren who moves to a small farming town with his mother where strict rules mean dancing is banned.

3. Scaresville

4. More Ghost Stories by Candlelight

Hightide are returning to share more ghostly stories following a sell-out tour last year. 

The production will feature chilling modern tales and music from across the east of England. 

5. Al Murray: Guv Island

The Pub Landlord is stepping out on a UK tour and is back to "make sense of the questions you probably already had the answer to."

Tickets for the performance in Ipswich are selling out fast with only a few seats remaining.

6. Island of Secrets

A three hour guided talk will take visitors into the heart of the former military weapons testing site. 

Get up close and learn the history of the buildings as you head beyond the usual no entry signs.

7. Twilight Night
