From an evening of chilling ghost stories to a "secret" tour of a former weapons testing site, here are seven major Suffolk events happening in October 2024.
1. Oktoberfest
When: Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6
Where: East Point Pavilion, Royal Plain, Lowestoft, NR33 0AP
Cost: Free entry
Be transported to a German beer hall with a festive atmosphere and a weekend of celebrations.
A range of beers from Oktoberfest breweries will be provided by Sir Toby's Beers.

2. Footloose The Musical
When: Thursday, October 3 until Saturday, October 26
Where: The New Wolsey Theatre, Civic Drive, Ipswich, IP1 2AS
Cost: Starting from £13
The theatre is heading back to the 1980s with a musical production based on the hit Kevin Bacon film.
The show follows the character of Ren who moves to a small farming town with his mother where strict rules mean dancing is banned.

3. Scaresville
When: Wednesday, October 16 until Saturday, November 2
Where: Kentwell Hall, High Street, Long Melford, Sudbury, C010 9BA

The haunted village is returning with even more inventive scares to make you scream.

4. More Ghost Stories by Candlelight
When: Sunday, October 20
Where: Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 1QR
Cost: Starting from £12
Hightide are returning to share more ghostly stories following a sell-out tour last year.
The production will feature chilling modern tales and music from across the east of England.
5. Al Murray: Guv Island
When: Saturday, October 12
Where: Ipswich Regent Theatre, St Helen's Street, Ipswich, IP4 1HE
Cost: £33
The Pub Landlord is stepping out on a UK tour and is back to "make sense of the questions you probably already had the answer to."
Tickets for the performance in Ipswich are selling out fast with only a few seats remaining.
6. Island of Secrets
Where: Orford Ness Nature Reserve, Orford Quay, Orford, Woodbridge, IP12 2NU
When: Sunday, October 13
Cost: £20 for National Trust members (£27.50 for non members)
A three hour guided talk will take visitors into the heart of the former military weapons testing site.
Get up close and learn the history of the buildings as you head beyond the usual no entry signs.

7. Twilight Night
Where: Carlton Marshes, Burnt Hill Lane, Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, NR33 8HU
When: Saturday, October 26
Cost: £4 for adults and £6 for children aged over three
A night of nocturnal activities for the whole family to take part in.
Discover what barn owls eat for dinner, use a bat detector to identify the bats on the marshes and use empty jars to make lanterns.
