Five new homes and garages could be built in a village near Bury St Edmunds under new plans before a council.

Outline plans for five self-build homes on land at Norton Rise, Ixworth Road, Norton, have been submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council by a Mr R Catchpole.

The five homes would be detached and complete with garages, driveways, and gardens laid to lawn.

The self-build homes would be bespoke designs and a design and access statement before the council reads: "In order to ensure a cohesive development, the dwellings will be based on traditional Suffolk vernacular architecture appropriate for a rural edge of a village location."

The homes would be two-storeys and plans state the scale would be "commensurate" with the homes the council has approved on adjoining land, 12 of which have been approved over recent years.

The statement reads: "The principle of residential development in this location has already been established by the previous permissions on adjacent land."

It continues to say: "The proposed development fulfils the three objectives of sustainable development and would provide economic, social and environmental benefits."

The plans are with Mid Suffolk District Council for consideration.
