Work has started on a £2million scheme which will see a section of overhead electricity cables in Constable Country replaced with underground wires.
UK Power Networks has launched a project to replace a section of overheard wires between Stoke-by-Nayland and Polstead, known as Box Volley.
Eight new substations will be built and eight kilometres of high voltage underground cables installed.
As a result, 6km of of overhead lines that from the Dedham Vale Natural Landscape.
Lee Blofield, project manager for the distributor said: "This work will make a lasting difference to this section of the Box Valley, as well as enhancing the reliability of the electricity network serving local people.
"This part of Suffolk is rightly popular with walkers and, while the views are already impressive, we are keen to make them even better through this project."
The scheme will be carried out in three phases, UK Power Networks added.
Final work is scheduled to take place at the end of 2025.
Suffolk County Councillor James Finch, who is also chairman of the Dedham Vale Partnership, said the scheme would "undoubtedly make an outstanding contribution to the area".
