A town centre coffee shop and bakery has announced it is set to move into a larger premises just around the corner.

SmallTown Coffee at 1 Well Lane in Clare has revealed it will be moving to the former Blue Dog gift shop unit at 8 High Street.

The shop, which opened in 2021 and sells a variety of artisan breads, including sourdough, and baked goods, as well as coffee, announced the move on their social media at the weekend.

They wrote: "If you're local to Clare, it's perhaps the worst kept secret of the year...

"However, we're here to let you know that we'll be moving our Clare shop over the road into the former Blue Dog building."

They continued to say they were excited to make the move, which would see them gain more space.

"Our spot on the corner has served us incredibly well, and we're all so thankful of your support in joining us there for your daily bread, coffee and general good times over the last three years," they wrote.

"We can't wait to make this move, and although we'll miss our wonky café we're looking forward to having a bit more space to deliver the best service to our SmallTown community.

"We'll update you with progress, but for now, we plan on keeping the current Clare shop open right up until we swap over."

SmallTown opened in 2021 when local entrepreneurs and childhood friends Ben Barker and Ed Stone have teamed up and took over the unit which used to house Café Clare.

It's name is a nod to Clare’s claim to fame of being Suffolk’s smallest town.

Blue Dog, which sold gift items, clothing and accessories, shut its doors for the last time in June this year.
