Five roads in a seaside town are set to be temporarily closed with diversions in place.

Motorists are being warned they could face delays as Suffolk Highways carries out carriageway resurfacing works in Southwold.

A week of works will be taking place with separate daytime road closures in operation.

It will see two days of carriageway resurfacing works carried out along Pier Avenue in Southwold.

The road will be closed between 9am and 4.30pm on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1 for these works.

A Suffolk Highways spokesman said: "For the duration of the closure, traffic will be diverted via Marlborough Road, Field Stile Road, Station Road and vice versa."

After this, three days of work will be carried out on four roads in Southwold.

Carriageway resurfacing works will be taking place along East Street, Trinity Street, Pinkney’s Lane and Market Place in Southwold between 8am and 6pm on Wednesday, October 2, Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4.

With road closures in place, traffic will be diverted via High Street, Victoria Street and vice versa.

A Suffolk Highways spokesman added: "To enable us to carry works out as planned, we ask that local road users please move their vehicles from the area highlighted by 'no parking' cones."
