An Ipswich man has appeared on a hit ITV daytime game show.

Mario, a customer service representative from the Suffolk town, appeared on The Chase on Wednesday.

Speaking to host Bradley Walsh, Mario said: "I sell in insurance, but not for much longer as I just found out a few days ago that I am being made redundant."

When asked how he feels about losing his job, the 41-year-old said: "I think it's a good thing in the long room because I do want a bit of a change, so I am looking to get into driving as I know they need a lot of HGV drivers so that's what I am aiming to do.

"I am a massive movie buff so I will watch anything and everything at the cinema because I am always there.

"I made a movie a few years ago so if I win a lot of money I will put that towards making a second film."

In the cash builder round, Mario made £3,000 before taking on 'The Dark Destroyer' Shaun Wallace.

Despite being five steps ahead, Mario made it home with one life to spare.

All four contestants made it through with a total prize money of £14,000.

Wallace said that Mario gave some excellent answers during the final round, where the team got 18 questions correct.

Despite Wallace getting off to a good start the team managed to push him back twice and won by one point - with all getting a share of £3,500.
