An education group has said it will "maintain a presence in Ipswich" as its college building goes up for sale for more than half a million pounds.

West Suffolk College's base on Fore Street in Ipswich has been listed for sale for £595,000.

The site is a Grade II listed building with a large single storey flat roof extension. 

The Fore Street property is made up of rooms that have been used as classrooms by the college, and it also features a large reception, office, kitchen and toilet facilities.

Part of the first and second floor provides a small residential flat.

West Suffolk College have been based at the property for a number of years, with their lease agreement set to end in April 2025.

Laraine Moody is the group principal for university and professional development. 

She said: “West Suffolk College Sixth Form, part of the Eastern Education Group, has a host of Personal and Professional Learning centres in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk – teaching thousands of students on a range of courses all year round.

“The Personal and Professional Learning centre in Ipswich (based on Fore Street) is owned by an external company who have recently put the premises up for sale.

"The College remains open and is not affected.

“Whatever the outcome of the sale, Eastern Education Group puts a huge value on, and is fully committed to, supporting the people of Ipswich and surrounding areas and we will maintain a presence in Ipswich beyond April 2025 and into the future – whether that be at Fore Street or at another central location."

West Suffolk College are set to remain at the premises until their lease ends on April 30, 2025, at least.
