Police are appealing for information after they received reports of men following girls. 

Essex Police received reports of a man approaching a following a victim in the Monwick area of Colchester at about 10pm on Friday. 

A spokesman for Essex Police said the man followed the victim in Monkwick Avenue before leaving the scene along Queen Elizabeth Way.

It was then reported that at about 10pm on Saturday a girl was being followed in Queen Elizabeth Way and Prince Philip Road before a man left in an unknown direction. 

Both victims said the man following them was alone, the spokesman for Essex Police confirmed. 

One man was described as 5ft 10ins tall, slim, with short black hair and moustache. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.

The second man was described as 5ft 8ins tall, slim, with black hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a black long-sleeved top and a black gilet, with black jogging bottoms.

District commander Colin Cox, of Essex Police, appealed for people with information on the men to contact officers.

He said: “If you think you have more information about these incidents, or recognise these descriptions, we want to hear from you.

“We believe these may be descriptions of separate men or the same man, and we are following multiple lines of enquiry to establish further details of these incidents.

“Our officers and partner agencies will also be visible in the area today and the coming days to reassure the community and further our investigation.”
