Supported families enjoyed a seaside day of fun despite blustery conditions at a children's hospice activity day.
The outing at Felixstowe was meant for children, parents, grandparents, and siblings receiving care at The Treehouse, in Ipswich.
The event was orchestrated by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) with participants garnering shelter at The Hut from the winds.
The Hut, equipped with its own kitchen and accessible toilet, is specifically for charity and community groups.
Almost a dozen families, staff and volunteers attended.
Among them was Jodie Barden with her daughters Ella, Chloe and Mia.
Ella and Chloe have Cockayne syndrome.
Jodie said: “We had such a lovely day. It’s so difficult finding something I can do with all my girls at the same time.
“The beach day is perfect because they’re all happy and if Mia wants to go and play on the sand, there are people to help and make sure she’s safe.
"It wouldn’t be possible otherwise and I’m very grateful.”
All children receiving care had the chance to experience the seaside using a hired beach wheelchair and a hoist.
Gracie Baldry, a child with Cerebral Palsy, was one of the children who had the pleasure of witnessing the giant waves.
Gracie's grandmother Beverley Craven attended too, stressing on the importance of these trips: “Days like this give us an opportunity to unwind and create memories together.
"EACH is such an important lifeline and, as a family, we have nothing but positive things to say.
"Everyone does such a fantastic job.”
Families had picnics, drinks, snacks, and engaged in various activities such as arts, crafts, and games.
Play specialist Hailey Allen, the organiser of the trip was delighted with how it turned out, saying: “The beach day is one of the highlights of our busy calendar at The Treehouse.
"It’s always a special day."
