Named "well-being by the sea", a new well-being hub has opened in Felixstowe to tackle loneliness and isolation.
The hub launched with a grand opening on Friday, September 6, residing within the old Chuffers site in Great Eastern Square.
East Suffolk Council funded the space, which will aim to co-ordinate and host activities for adults over 18, living in IP11.
The activities will encourage and make it easier for people to support their own health and well-being and will be coordinated by Emmaus Suffolk.
The charity, which works towards "ending homelessness", will include the Felixstowe hub as one of their 30 communities across the country, supporting more than 850 people who have experienced homelessness.
Claire Staddon, CEO of Emmaus Suffolk said: “Working to deliver the Ipswich and East Suffolk Alliance, East Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council vision for an innovative Wellbeing Hub for the residents of Felixstowe and surrounding communities whilst providing a safe space for community-based services to call home is a privilege.
"I hope this is only the beginning of us helping to improve health outcomes in the area”.
The hub will be open Monday to Friday, with the idea of opening on evenings and weekends, depending on need.
