During World War II, the East of England became home to over 350,000 US Army Air Force personnel, in a deployment dubbed the ‘Friendly Invasion’.

Masters of the Air tells the true story of the bomber boys of the American Eighth Air Force, known as the Mighty Eighth, stationed in East Anglia before they flew into Nazi Germany.

Dr Miller and Mr Saduski will also visit the WWII Royal Observer Corps Operations Room at Bury St Edmunds Guildhall and experience a guided tour around the town.

They are visiting the town as part of a three-night trip organised by The National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

Masters of the Air was named ‘outstanding book of the year’ by World War II magazine and was the primary source for the Apple TV mini-series which came out in January.

Tickets for the free event can be booked on Eventbrite.
