A Suffolk parish council has announced it will no longer be using X citing hateful content on the site.
X, formerly known as Twitter, has been criticised following the riots that took place across the UK last month.
Now Felixstowe Town Council has decided to suspend its activity on the social media site.
A spokesperson for the council said: "This council is deeply saddened by the recent riots fuelled by hatred, far-right extremism and Islamophobia on social media, in particular the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
"X appears to be doing little to restrict this hateful content.
"As a result, this council determines to suspend the use X as a form of communication and instructs the civic and community committee to review the council’s press and media policy accordingly."
The motion to suspend the social media site was brought during a planning and environment meeting on Wednesday at which all councillors were present.
Elon Musk, the owner and chairman of X, was told to "act responsibly" by the UK government during the riots.
His app is also currently suspended in Brazil, after failing to provide a legal representative when summoned to the Supreme Court.
