A Suffolk seaside town is set for a busy weekend with a festival, the finish of the Tour of Britain cycling event and a 10 mile run all taking place.

Gold medal-winning Paris Olympian Tom Pidcock is set to take part in the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain men's cycling race, when the final stage six happens in east Suffolk on Sunday, with this section of the event set to finish in Sea Road, Felixstowe.

Last year, Felixstowe hosted the start and finish of stage five of the tour, which was won by Belgian rider Wout Van Aert, who went on to claim the overall tour title.

The peloton will then ride along the Suffolk coast between Thorpeness and Aldeburgh, before the second half of the race travels through Snape, Wickham Market, Kesgrave and Martlesham, eventually finishing in Felixstowe.

But the cycling is not the only event taking place in Felixstowe on Sunday, as the Richard Bennett Coastal 10 run will also be held, starting at 9.15am on the promenade near Felixstowe Leisure Centre.

In addition, the Love Green Felixstowe Festival is also being held in the town from Friday until Sunday, which is providing a range of events in the town, including a free beachside cinema and concerts.

A screening of the film The Greatest Showman will be taking place at the beachside events arena close to the leisure centre on Friday, while other movies to be shown will include Shrek and Barbie.

On Saturday, there will be a yoga class in the town's triangle in Crescent Road at 10am, with music from the Felixstowe Community Choir at 11am, JazzVibe at 12.30pm and the Ipswich Over-50s Brass Band from 2pm.

A Love Green Felixstowe Eco Market will also be taking place in Great Eastern Square on the same day from 9am to 2pm.

Organiser Kate Cain, manager of Felixstowe Business Improvement District, said: “We want to keep our town as green and litter-free as possible, which is one of the reasons we decided to introduce a green element to this year’s event.

"Nothing could be more green than pedal power and we are thrilled that for the second time in as many years, we will welcome the cream of world cycling at the final stage of the Tour of Britain.”
