A chorus of cheers echoed around an historic Suffolk town's market place as runners braved high temperatures to take on a 10k race.

Crowds gathered in Market Hill in Framlingham on Sunday to support more than 350 runners who took part in a 2k junior race and the 10k event.

The runners started from outside the town's Crown hotel before completing an undulating two-lap course around the town and the surrounding countryside.

Race director Tim Cherrett said the event took a lot of organising beforehand, but that it was "wonderful" to see everything come together on the day, with people "pouring into" the race HQ at Framlingham Sports Club.

There was a lady from Cumbria. There were runners up to the age of 83, which is just amazing and everybody had a smile on their face.

"Various people throughout the county will almost always win their age groups. It helps having a great burger van there and the bar in the sports club is open.

"People don't just turn up, do the run and go, they will have a beer in the sunshine and pull each other's legs. Everyone had a big smile on their faces."
