Former students at a Nacton school have turned back time to the 1990s after reuniting to look inside their time capsule.

Many from the class of 1993 at Amberfield School came together to see the box and take a trip down memory lane.

The reunion was organised after the recent passing of two students from the year.

Inside the capsule was a VHS tape and photos of the class, timetables, academic studies, uniform samples and even a copy of the East Anglian Daily Times from that day.

The capsule was buried at the physics block when the class were in year 9 but was dug up in 2011 when the school closed and was re-developed.

A student at the school, who's mother was a teacher, then kept hold of the capsule until the group wanted to look inside.

Georgie Bingham, a former reporter for the East Anglian Daily Times and now in her late 40s said: "It was amazing to catch up with everyone, most haven't seen each other since we left but we still have this extraordinary bond.

"The idea was that we would open it up by the time we were 50.

"When you're 13/14 you don't ever think about being 50 and it was nice to see us all grown up but not really."

The students also prepared ID cards of themselves, bits of homework and a list of what they were watching on TV at the time, the most popular show amongst them being Baywatch.

The group reunited over a "good few glasses over prosecco" and have promised to meet again.

"We are going to meet up again and hopefully watch the tape," the former reporter said.

"There were people missing and we realised that we didn't make as much effort as many we should have, but we will get everyone we can next time."
