A decorated salver presented to Sir Alf Ramsey for his 100th game in charge of England is heading under the hammer.

The legendary Ipswich Town manager and World Cup winner was presented with the 14 inch plate by the Council of the Football Association during the national sides game against Wales in November 1972.

In the match, England defeated Wales 1-0.

It is also decorated with flags of the 34 nations that Sir Alf played against in his first 100 games as manager.

The rare and unique salver is being auction on the sports memorabilia auction site, Graham Budd and is estimated to sell for between £6,000 and £8,000.

Sir Alf was the manager of Ipswich Town for eight years, from 1955 to 1963, taking the Tractor Boys from the third division to the top flight title in 1962.

He left the Blues, taking up the England job in 1963.

England would go on to win the World Cup in 1966 making Sir Alf the only manager of the men's team to win a major trophy.

He retired in Ipswich where he lived until his death in 1999 aged 79.

The auction will take place over Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4.
