A woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by a farm worker when she was a child has denied lying about the allegations.

Giving evidence at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday during the trial of 56-year-old Simon Harrington of North Court, Brandon, the alleged victim denied a suggestion from defence counsel Joanne Eley that she had made up what had allegedly happened.

The witness accepted there were differences in information she gave police during interviews several years apart but denied she had "added lies" in the later interview to make her complaint more convincing.

"I added more truth," she said.

Harrington has pleaded not guilty to four offences of rape in relation to one alleged victim, two offences of sexual assault of a child relating to a second alleged victim and two offences of indecent assault, three offences of assault of a child by penetration and two offences of sexual activity with a child in relation to a third alleged victim.

Lori Tucker, prosecuting, said the alleged offences, some of which date back to the 1990s, happened while Harrington was living in Brandon.

She said that when police officers went to his home in November 2021 they found a mannequin dressed in a T-shirt with the name of one of the alleged victims on it.

The trial continues.
