From a musical based on a hit '80s film to a full day celebrating man's best friend, here are seven major events and things to do in Suffolk in September.

1. An Officer and a Gentleman

The musical is based of the 1982 film showcasing the emotional journey of young officer Zack Mayo and Paula Pokrifki, who matches his fiery spirit. 

It features a smash-hit soundtrack featuring well-known songs by Madonna, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper and Blondie. 

2. Rock and Pop Festival

Where: Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park, Pannington Hall Lane, Wherstead, IP9 2AP

Cost: £35 for adult weekend and £10 for child weekend (under fives go free)

The Rock and Pop Festival will see some of the UK's best tributes to artists like Dua Lipa, Madonna and Oasis performing at the wildlife park. 

Day tickets are also available and dogs can attend the event but must be kept on leads.

3. Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival

Cost: £18 for adult weekend and under 16s free

More than 130 local food and drink producers will have stalls at the festival alongside two live demo stages, cookery classes and street food vendors. 

A selection of masterclasses for up to 15 people to be taught skills from trained chefs are also on offer.

4. Classics at Glemham

Where: Glemham Hall, Little Glemham, Woodbridge, IP13 0BT

Cost: £10 (under 15s go free)

Classics at Glemham is returning for its sixth year with hundreds of vintage motors on display. 

There will also be other attractions for children and live music performed by Shadows tribute band The Silhouettes. 

5. Suffolk Dog Day

Cost: £15 for adults and £7.50 for children

More than 50 stalls will be at the festival selling a range of treats for four-legged friends including dog accessories and cheese. 

There will be Crufts style competitions, demonstrations from training industry experts and have-a-go areas with fun activities.

6. An Evening with Graham Norton

The talk show host is hitting the road in September to promote his latest book Frankie which follows Frankie Howe from Ireland in the 1940s to the art scene of 1960s New York. 

Graham Norton will share tales from his star-studded red sofa and answer live questions from the audience.

7. Su Pollard: Still Fully Charged

The new one-woman show will celebrate the characters Su Pollard has played over her career spanning half a decade such as Peggy in BBC series Hi-de-Hi!

The show will feature show songs, backstage secrets from her diary and perhaps and appearance from a character or two.
