A 40-year-old man has been handed a driving ban and told to pay out more than £1,000 after being caught over the alcohol limit while behind the wheel of a car.
Nicholas Anderson, of The Avenue in Martlesham Heath, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich charged with drink driving.
A court listing said Anderson was stopped while driving a Ford Focus in Gloster Road in Martlesham on March 29 this year.
He was accused of having 62 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his breath, which is in excess of the legal limit.
Anderson pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was handed a driving ban of 17 months.
As well as this, he was told to pay a £750 fine, £105 in costs and £300 in the form of a surcharge - meaning he was told to pay out £1,155 in total.
A collection order was made for the sums by magistrates at the court.
Anderson's guilty plea was taken into account at sentencing.
