A 32-year-old man has been told to pay £8 in compensation and fined for stealing two small bottles of wine from a convenience store in a mid Suffolk town.
Robert Maguire, of Pages Close in Stowmarket, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich charged with theft from a shop.
According to a court listing, Maguire was charged with taking two small bottles of Magnum Tonic Wine - with the combined value of £8 - from Londis Stores in Wolsey Road in Stowmarket.
The incident happened on December 6 last year at the convenience store.
Maguire pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was told by magistrates at the court to pay £8 in compensation to the retailer.
As well as this, he was instructed to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £105 and a fine of £80 - meaning the total amount he will have to pay for taking the wine bottles is £193.
Maguire's guilty plea to the charge was taken into account when he was sentenced.
