A body believed to be of Suffolk tech magnate Mike Lynch's 18-year-old daughter has been found in a wreckage after a superyacht sank off the coast of Italy.

The Italian Coastguard confirmed to the PA news agency that a body was found on the sunken Bayesian on Friday.

Dr Lynch and his daughter Hannah, who lived near Wickham Market, were among six people who went missing after the Bayesian, the yacht they were travelling on, capsized half a mile off the coast of Sicily during a freak storm on Monday morning.

It had been previously reported that the teenager was set to start studying at the University of Oxford in the coming weeks.

Vincenzo Zagarola, of the Italian Coastguard, said the search for Miss Lynch had not been “easy or quick”, comparing the sunken yacht to an “18-storey building full of water”.

The body of Autonomy founder Dr Lynch, 59, was recovered from the yacht by the Italian coastguard on Thursday

On Wednesday, divers located four bodies on the ship believed to be those of Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer; his wife, Judy Bloomer; Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo; and his wife, Neda Morvillo.

No other people are believed to be missing.

The wreckage of the Bayesian is resting on the seabed at a depth of 50m.

A decision on whether to raise the sunken yacht from the seabed is “not on the agenda”, but will be in the future, a spokesman from the Italian Coastguard had previously said.

Twenty-two passengers and crew were on board the yacht when it began to sink while 15 people, including Dr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares, were rescued after escaping on a lifeboat.

The boat trip in Italy was believed to be in celebration of Dr Lynch's recent acquittal in a US fraud case relating to the sale of Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard.

Dr Lynch had feared he would have died in prison if he was convicted of the serious charges.
