Headteachers across mid Suffolk have spoken of their delight after pupils collected their GCSE results.
Students picked up their grades on Thursday morning after sitting exams earlier this summer.
Among those getting their results was Stowupland High School pupil Jakob Wasag, from Needham Market, who achieved six 9s, two 8s and two 7s.
“I did really well,” he said. “Better than expected.
“I’ve just been on holiday in Croatia so that has stopped me getting too nervous waiting for my results.
“I’m going to do A-levels next but am not sure what subjects I’ll be taking. I’m then aiming for Oxford and think I want to study medicine.”
Headteacher Lee Walker said: "Congratulations to all our students picking up their exam results today.
“As a school community, we are very proud of all the hard work and effort you have put into your studies.”
Chloe Prewer, 16, from Haughley, said she was thrilled with her results.
“I’ve done much better than I expected and have got the results I needed,” she said.
“I’m going to study policing and public services at West Suffolk College next. I have two career dreams, either working in the Border Force or as a police officer.
“I’m so happy.”
Eighty per cent of year 11 students at Hartismere School, in Eye, achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths.
Headteachers Geoff Luxton and Sarah Gray, said: "These results are a testimony to the hard work of all our staff, governors and students and to the support given to them by their families."
Stowmarket High School pupil Izzy Manning achieved the highest grades possible across all subjects.
Lucie Hernandez, who was appointed headteacher at the school in March, said: "As the Headteacher at Stowmarket High School, I am very pleased with the results and proud of the students.
"We are rightly celebrating their hard work and efforts that went into the past five years of their studies. I also would like to thank our dedicated staff; it is their continued diligence that has enabled so many of our students to attain such positive outcomes."
Simon Martin, headteacher of Debenham High School, also praised pupils after achieving a "very successful" set of results.
He said: "Students at Debenham have had a very successful set of results with all students achieving the grades required to move onto the next stage of their education.
"My congratulations to all of the students for their efforts over the past five years which have culminated in their results today."
The achievements of Sofiia Hrushanska, who achieved 10 grade 9's, and Jude Nightingale, Sophie Daynes and Theo Darrington, who all achieved at least seven grade 9's, were highlighted by Mr Martin.
Claydon High School headteacher Mr Ismay praised the way pupils have handled the challenges, including Covid-19 and the RAAC crisis, over the last five years.
He said: "I think it is fair to say that this cohort has had one of the toughest five years for many reasons.
"They have had to deal with the Covid years throughout Key Stage 3 and along with the fall out from this, many have had their own personal challenges to overcome. And then this year they have been highly impacted by RAAC.
"Studying for a Science GCSE when you are unable to undertake practicals is a challenge and I would like to thank the students for their patience, the Science team for how they have transformed their entire curriculum and our trust, Penrose Learning Trust, for their support and swift response."
